STUDENT NOMINATION

Special rules apply to exchange within the framework of student mobility programmes such as SOCRATES/ERASMUS, NORDPLUS/NORDLYS, bilateral exchange etc. Please contact the International Office at your home institution about going on exchange.

After being selected by your home university to study at Roskilde University, you will receive an e-mail from us explaining our application procedure and requirements in details.

 

At Roskilde University you can enrol as either a guest student or as an exchange student.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

In order to consider your application we require:

·         A certified transcript of the study activities / courses you have completed at your home university.

·         A completed Application Form
(use the browser Google Chrome if possible)

·         A Completed Learning Agreement with your proposed study programme at Roskilde University, signed by you and your home university.

·         Certificate of an English Test if applying for exchange admission for courses taught in English.

·         Please note that we require exchange students to be full time students. Full time studies equal 30 ECTS per semester.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT 

All students applying for exchange admission for courses taught in English, must document fluency in written and spoken English through English test results.

The English tests and scores required:

·         IELTS: 5.5 or

·         TOEFL paper-based: 550 or

·         TOEFL computer-based: 225 or

·         TOEFL internet-based: 80 or

·         Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 45 or

·         Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 45

COURSES IN ENGLISH

Courses in English is in geography only part of the courses, but each semester there will be GIS, and 2-3 courses more.

 

Several student will take courses in English also in department TEK_SAM, a technology – social science education.

 

Also social science basis education – the first 2 years of a BA can be of interest for incoming students

PROJECT WORK

15 ects has to be used for incoming students to participate in a project work.
Roskilde University have been an experimental university to train students how to learn, instead of just teaching. Projectwork is a kind of small research and more than long essays. Examination is individual oral after hand in of the project report. Subject is selected by students and they get a tutor to support them.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

To become an exchange student at Aarhus University, you need to fill in an online application form. If you wish to apply for housing through the International Centre, you need to fill in the housing section within the online application form. Further instructions are available on the website below.  http://www.au.dk/en/exchange/admissiontoau/

We recommend that you use the Internet Explorer web browser to complete the online application as many applicants have experienced problems when using other web browsers such as Firefox or Safari

Please notice that due to the high number of incoming applications, we kindly ask that the application deadlines are respected since we cannot guarantee that applications submitted after the deadlines will be processed.

  

ACCOMODATIONS 

Familiarize yourself with the AU housing service and decide whether you wish to apply for housing through the International Centre or if you prefer to find housing on your own. Students wishing to apply for housing through the International Centre will do so in the application form Application form for exchange students, incl. housing application. No students applying for housing through the International Centre should fill in a separate housing application.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

You must have a high level of English proficiency. This means that you are expected to have English language qualifications comparable to the English B level from the Danish upper secondary school (gymnasium). International qualifications comparable to this level are for example:

·         TOEFL test results of at least 560 (paper based test) or 83 (internet based test)

·         IELTS test with a minimum score of 6.5 points

·         C1 level obtained by examination from a CEFR-validated English language course 

Since you are expected to have the appropriate English skills, you should not include language documents in your applications. However, Aarhus University reserves the right to take action if students do not comply with the required language skills.

Please do not attempt to choose courses before reading the instructions. Student applying to Aarhus School of Business will receive directions on how to choose courses separately after admission to Aarhus University.  Please visit the website

Faculty of Social Sciences - Departments:

·         Law

·         Psychology

·         Economics

·         Political Science

It is important that you have a relevant academic background when you apply to these departments. You must have taken courses at your home university within the specific subject field to be accepted to any of these departments.


Most students will choose 30 ECTS at one department but it is possible in some cases to take courses at two different departments. You must choose at least 20 ECTS at one department. The remaining 10 ECTS may sometimes be taken at a different department at the faculty.


As a rule you are not allowed to take courses outside the Faculty of Social Sciences but students studying at the department of Political Science may be allowed to take 10 ECTS at the Department of History and Area Studies at the Faculty of Humanities.

INTENSIVE LANGUAGE  COURSES

Danish language courses are offered through LærDansk during the semester.
